Retzer Pumpkin Crescents

Ingredients

  • For about 50 crescents
  • 250 g flour
  • 200 g Pumpkin Seeds, finely grated
  • 100 g icing sugar
  • 200 g butter
  • 2 yolks
  • 1 cl pumpkinseedoil
  • 8 g vanilla sugar (= 1 pack)
  • salt
  • chocolate glaze or vanilla- and icing sugar for decoration

Instructions

  • Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough.
  • Cover the dough or wrap it in foil and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  • Then shape the dough into a roll, cut it into small pieces, roll them into small balls, and then shape them into small rolls that taper at the ends.
  • Form the rolls into crescent shapes.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it with butter.
  • Carefully place the crescents on the baking sheet, making sure they are not too close together.
  • Depending on their size, bake in a preheated oven at about 180°C for 10–15 minutes.
  • Immediately after baking—while still hot—gently coat the crescents in a mixture of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.
  • Remove them from the baking sheet while still hot and decorate as desired with a glaze or chocolate, or simply dust them generously with the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar mixture.
